Little Bugs Can Mean Big Problems for Your Well!

In Florida, we deal with all kinds of pesky insects that cause a wide range of issues around the home. Termites, mosquitoes, cockroaches, wasps... our state seems to have any kind of bug you can think of. When certain bugs, like ants, decide to make a home inside your well pump, the results can be disastrous. Insects can cause the well pump to stop working, cutting off water to your home. We've even seen well pumps that have caught fire because there were so many insects living inside!

This is one reason why it is so important to perform regular check-ups on your well and water treatment systems. Luckily, this is something you can do yourself, for free! Simply set aside five minutes every month or so to inspect your well water system. Here are some things to keep an eye out for, and if you see any of them, call a professional right away.

  1. Loose, broken or hanging wires

  2. Signs of insects or animals in or around the equipment

  3. Leaks or drips
