Dennis Macaluso

President

Steve Briel Greetings, my name is Dennis Macaluso, founder and president of Gainesville Pump & Supply, Inc. I was born and raised in the industrial north east, in the wonderful city of Erie, Pennsylvania. I am 63 years old and have not reached the curmudgeonly stage yet, I don't think, well, maybe on certain topics.

My business creed is very simple, conduct business in a manner that will make your father proud, be professional, courteous, punctual, responsible and compassionate. People entrust the health of their families to me and my guys, and we take that charge seriously. We provide a necessity of life-water-safe, sanitary water. Give us an opportunity to earn your trust, I promise we won’t disappoint you.

Lets see, what puts a smile on my face?

My wife Karen for one, my children Stephanie, Tony, Julia, Trisha and pulling up the rear Jimmy. I am also lucky to have five grandchildren: Marisa, Miranda, and Mia (I think Stephanie did that to get back at me for something I did, which I can't remember and she won't ever tell) and Dellic and Devin,Trisha's children.

My guys Steve and Jimmy, and all our friends and patrons. My dislikes, are few, but not limited to the bane of humanity, the increasingly popular, Moron, the twit we see with the glassed over expression, usually observed with a steering wheel in hand, Yikes!

My work history includes the US Navy, (this is where I was introduced to pumps). Litton Industries ship yard, where I was a ship fitter and helped build the largest ore carrier on the great lakes the Stewart J Court, she was a beauty. I was a maintenance superintendent for a 500 bed, medical, surgical, teaching hospital in Erie and was living across the state line, in the small serene dairy community of Clymerk, NY. Boy, talk about the salt of the earth and robust hard working people—the dairy farmer—my hat's off to you.

I found myself working on well pumps for dairy farmers on weekends and decided on a career change, so I started my well pump, heating and plumbing business in Clymer, not missing the 45–mile commute to Erie. Clymer is located about 90 miles west southwest of Buffalo, NY the weather was always a challenge.

To head mother nature off at the pass before she got hold of me, my wife and I would head to Florida for a week or two in January to make sure that large, heat radiating, orb in the sky, still existed and I made it promise to migrate to Clymer in the near future. It was an unusually bitter snow storm that became my Waterloo—three days of non-stop snow blizzard; 20–feet high drifts in the yard; and unable to get to a plowed road with my Dodge Power Wagon "with Plow", I said that's it, you win, we're moving to Florida.

That was a decision I did not regret. With the proceeds, I opened Gainesville Pump.

Steve Briel

Technician

Steve Briel

On January 6, 1999 Gainesville Pump was called out to service the well at the Briel residence. We had started the trouble shooting procedures when the home owner arrived. His name was Steve, and I immediately liked the guy, he was approachable and had a casual relaxed demeanor about him,and seemed to ask the right questions about what I was doing and why. I like that about people, that inquisitive mind, the need to know how things work. Steve told us that he had worked for a rental store for 10 plus years servicing all types of equipment and dealing with walk-in customers and that he currently worked for a transmission shop. That got me thinking, mechanical aptitude, a likable personality,a nice guy, so I pulled my employee Aaron Sikes to the side and asked what do you think? Aaron confirmed my impression, so I hit Steve with, "Are you happy with what you are doing now?" Steve has been with me now for 12 years and I couldn't be more pleased.

On a personal note, Steve has been married to his wife Nancy for 13 years and have two beautiful sons Noah and Adam. His hobbies include playing with his children, softball, baseball, and racing his '68 Camero.

Jimmy Zaruba

Technician

Steve Briel

Jim Zaruba came to Gainesville Pump via a twenty year career at Pepsi. He spent time in sales, operations and marketing equipment maintenance. Seventeen of those years were in the Fountain and vending department working with pumps, motors, controls, filtration and refrigeration. He was in management in operations and maintenance and worked on process improvement and training. On a personal side, Jim coached wrestling at Gainesville High School from 1993–2003. I met Jim when he coached my son, Tony, to State qualification after only two years of experience. He coached the school's first State Champ, first team District Champ, first girl to qualify for state and win match, as well as 29 State qualifiers, nine placers, one runner-up and four state champs.

Jim has been married to his wife, Noreene, for twenty plus years . He lives on a ten acre spread, off Williston road, with dogs and horses. He enjoys throwing Gator football parties, working on the homestead and walking the dogs.

I enjoy Jim's humor, personality and his midwest values and knew he would be a good fit with Gainesville Pump. Jim has the freedom of making job site decisions without the aggrivation of going through a corparate chain of command. My staff are mature and intelligent men whos opinions I value. Jim taps me for advice, consultation, to present ideas, or just give me a hard time.

Jim's comments "It is nice to align myself with a company that has the same values (honesty, integrity, and quality of workmanship). This company is small, Dennis, Steve and myself. We all believe in the same thing."
